About James

Picture
Born in 1944, talented self-taught artist, James Koh,  is not only a modest and cultured artist, but was also a former farm manager. At the age 14, he spent a year under the tutelage of the late Dr. Chen  Wen Hsi.  His talent and innate love for nature motivated him to study and observe them. This allowed his expressions and feelings to flow into the composition of his paintings.

Delicately painted, his works of art include silk paintings, watercolour paintings of Singapore, Chinese paintings and calligraphy.

His achievements include his first commissioning by Singapore Airlines to paint the Fish of Prosperity, invitation by STPD to demonstrate his painting technique in Berlin Germany. Singapore Mint selected works by James Koh for Sing Gold and Silver Medallion and Ingots.

For the opening of Merchant Court Hotel, his paintings were picked to be printed into calendars, postcards and coasters.

“Inspiration”, “motivation” and “communication” are terms applied to his visual works of art which adorn the walls and galleries far beyond Singapore.
